Job summary

A specialized engineering firm is seeking an experienced Design & Release Engineer to support the automotive industry. You will be responsible for developing components from design to production, while leading the design process and validating designs through testing. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 3 years of experience in design engineering. Preferred skills include knowledge of Unigraphics NX and CATIA. This role offers a hybrid work environment with competitive compensation.

Job description

We are recruiting an experienced Design & Release Engineer (Fascia/Bumper/Grill) to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE
  • Hybrid
  • Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Developing components/systems from initial design concept through full volume production
  • Provide feasibility input for development of designs from Product Design Office (PDO) concepts, sketch, and clay models
  • Establish and manage development timeline for life of project
  • Develop functional objectives, build objectives, DVPR, and DFMEA for components
  • Lead design, while leveraging external design source and/or internal CAD design resource
  • Release of completed component geometry using Teamcenter/NX CAD tools
  • Validate virtual designs using CAE resources and perform physical validation via component, system, and vehicle level testing. Manage internal documentation for release of systems
  • Plan and oversee tool construction and production of assemblies
    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Onsite support for vehicle pilot builds and production launch at assembly
    • Root cause analysis and determination of corrective action for issues with assembly, fit/finish, and functional performance
    • Analyze and remediate warranty, identify cost reduction opportunities on production of systems, candidate will also be responsible for safety compliance report documents
    REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor of Science in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university
    • 3 years of experience in design & release engineering in plastics. Experience with fascia/bumper/grills strongly preferred
    • Very good knowledge about Unigraphics NX and CATIA
    • Strong PC + MS Office skills required. Excellent written, verbal and listening skills and interpersonal skills
    • Self-starter and motivated to produce results
    • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
    • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
    • $40.00 / hour - $44.00 / hour (depending on experience)
    • Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
    • Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
