Job summary

Paramount Resources Ltd. in Calgary, AB is seeking a Drilling/Completions Summer Student for a 4-month term starting May 2027. The role is based in our downtown Calgary office with travel to field locations possible.

You will work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, learn drilling and completions within the oil and gas sector, gather and review well data, and assist in building execution programs, planning and executing operations.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in 2nd–4th year of engineering or related program.
• Currently studying at University of Calgary, Queens University, University of Saskatchewan, or University of Alberta.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills with willingness to learn.
• Oil and gas experience not required but a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn Drilling and/or Completions within the Oil & Gas industry under supervision.
• Be mentored by a Senior Engineer during the work term.
• Gather and compile information from well files and field data.
• Assist senior engineers in building execution programs and planning operations.

About this opportunity:

We are looking for a Drilling/Completions Summer Student for a 4-month term commencing in May 2027.

This position will be based in-person, in our downtown Calgary office. Supervised travel to Field locations in Alberta may be required.

What you’ll be doing:

• You will learn about Drilling and/or Completions within the Oil & Gas industry
• You will be supervised and mentored by a Senior Engineer within the group for your work term
• Specific job functions may include:
• Gathering and compiling information from well files
• Offset review of performance and adjacent wells from other operators within the area Paramount is working
• Assisting senior engineers with building execution programs
• You will be exposed to planning, designing, and how to execute operations within the Drilling and Completions group.

Who you are:

• You are currently enrolled in your 2 nd , 3 rd or 4 th year of an Engineering or relevant program
• You are currently enrolled at the University of Calgary, Queens University, University of Saskatchewan, or the University of Alberta
• You are able to work effectively in a team environment
• You are someone who values feedback as a learning tool
• You are motivated, hard-working and determined to achieve superior results
• You are focused and have a keen attention to detail
• Previous oil and gas experience is not required, however it is considered an asset

To be eligible for a Paramount Resources student position, you must meet the following requirements:

• You are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution
• You are available to work the full duration of the work term
• You are currently residing in Calgary or willing to relocate for your work term
• You are legally entitled to work in Canada, without restriction by way of one of the following:
  • Canadian Citizenship
  • Permanent Residency
  • Valid work permit
