Job summary

Walker Industries is seeking an experienced Driller to join our Severn team. You will conduct pre-operational inspections, transport and drill quarry benches, and maintain drilling equipment while supporting winter plant maintenance.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and proactive maintenance in outdoor environments. The ideal candidate has quarry or aggregate experience, a valid Ontario G license, and the ability to work independently or with a team in physically demanding conditions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in quarry, mine, or sand and gravel operations.
  • Experience operating drill equipment or other heavy equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a physically demanding outdoor environment.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver\'s license with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of explosives and/or clearance to work around explosives is an asset.
  • Common Core training is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-operational inspections of the drill carrier and attachments.
  • Safely transport the drill between quarry locations and job sites.
  • Drill quarry benches to specified depths and patterns.
  • Verify drilling accuracy and adjust as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on drilling equipment.
  • Identify and report equipment deficiencies per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and environmental standards.
  • Assist with plant and equipment maintenance during winter shutdown.

About the Job

We're looking for an experienced Driller to join our Severn team and play a key role in the safe and efficient production of high-quality aggregates. If you're someone who takes pride in your work, enjoys operating heavy equipment, and thrives in an outdoor environment, we'd like to hear from you. The ideal candidate is organized, safety-focused, and has strong situational awareness. You understand how to maximize the performance of your equipment while respecting its operating limits, and you take ownership of keeping your machine in top condition.

This position is ideal for someone with experience operating drills in a quarry or aggregate environment who is looking to build a long-term career with a company that values hard work, teamwork, and continuous improvement. During the winter season, you'll support our operations by assisting with plant maintenance and repairs, helping ensure our equipment is ready for the next production season.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Overtime and Saturdays as required

Wage: $31.25

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Conducting pre-operational inspections of the drill carrier and all attachments.

  • Safely transporting the drill between quarry locations and job sites.

  • Drilling quarry benches to specified depths and patterns.

  • Performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on drilling equipment.

Here’s What You Need
  • Previous experience working in a quarry, mine, or sand and gravel operation.
