The Job :

• Organize, draft and complete design and construction drawing to ensure compliance with Building and Fire Codes for Maintenance projects
• Operate plotting and printing equipment
• Prepare and carry out application for City building & development permits for Maintenance
• Prepare application for City occupant loads for gymnasium, auditorium, multi-purpose rooms
• Provide assistance to find record drawings as requested by Maintenance trades, Facilities And outside consultants / other outside parties
• Update site plans, site service plans, roof plans, key plans and transfer applicable information from record drawings
• Provide guidance to trades on building and fire codes to Maintenance trades and Grounds
• Incumbent works for / with technical persons ( managers, supervisors, trades, professional engineers / architects, technicians and building engineers )
• Use Software's such as AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, MS Excel

The Requirements :

• Broad knowledge and understanding of building components – architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural.
• Diploma of Building Engineering Technology.
• Computer system support and programming, hardware installing and repairing, software installation and troubleshooting.
• Understand English verbal and written instructions
• Read and interpret moderate complexity documents

Current project requirements :

• Preliminary drawings for childcare upgrades.
• Involve washroom and kitchen upgrades within the gymnasium areas.
• Update roof plans for 2025 summer roofing work.
• Create roof plans for new schools which are now open.
• Create site and service plans for the new schools.
• Continue creating site plans in CAD for all older schools (currently only scanned drawings exist).
