Job summary

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is seeking a skilled Design Drafter for the Churchill Falls site to support production, operational, and support facilities with accurate drawings and engineering documentation. You will update drawings, maintain control of records, and ensure lifecycle management of references while adhering to safety and environmental policies.

Relocation to Churchill Falls is required for this permanent role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with a Diploma in Drafting or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of drafting experience in electrical, mechanical, civil, or multidisciplinary environments.
• Ability to prepare, revise and manage engineering drawings and related documentation.
• Experience with drawing control registers and document management systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare new technical drawings and documentation to support production, operational, and support service facilities.
• Update and revise existing drawings to reflect current plant configurations and engineering requirements.
• Maintain drawing control registers and document management systems to ensure effective control of engineering records.
• Produce, reproduce, distribute, and manage engineering drawings and technical documentation for use across the organization.
• Operate and maintain drafting equipment and related assets, while managing inventories and supplies.
• Coordinate filing, storage, retrieval, and long-term preservation of drawings and records, including archive storage.
• Maintain engineering standards, catalogues, technical publications, and reference materials.
• Support the daily operation of the Technical Records function, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of documentation.
• Promote and adhere to corporate safety and environmental policies and standards.

What We’re looking for:

You are a skilled and detail-oriented Design Drafter who can support the development, maintenance, and control of engineering and technical documentation for production, operational, and support service facilities. You will also play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and lifecycle management of technical drawings, records, and engineering reference materials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare new technical drawings and documentation to support production, operational, and support service facilities.
• Update and revise existing drawings to ensure they accurately reflect current plant configurations and engineering requirements.
• Maintain drawing control registers and document management systems to ensure effective control of engineering records.

• Maintain engineering standards, catalogues, technical publications, and reference materials to ensure information remains current and accessible.
• Support the daily operation of the Technical Records function, ensuring the accuracy, security, and accessibility of engineering documentation.
• Promote and adhere to corporate safety and environmental policies, procedures, and standards.

What You’ll Need:

High school graduation supplemented by a Diploma in Drafting or a related discipline. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical, mechanical, civil, or multidisciplinary drafting environments.

Relocation Support

Churchill Falls is a company-owned town supporting the Churchill Falls Generating Station, one of the largest underground hydroelectric plants in the world. Relocation to Churchill Falls will be required. Relocation expenses and subsidized living accommodations are provided to the successful candidate.
