Job summary

Kichton Construction LP in Fort McMurray is seeking a full-time Dozer Operator to join the oilsands site operations. The role requires 2–3 years’ dozer experience (D9–D11) and the ability to work in Muskeg conditions, with safety and production focus. Shifts are 12 hours, with 14 days on and 7 off, and camp accommodations are provided.

Flights to Edmonton/Calgary are included, with weekly bus transport to site. Please bring a valid Class 5 license and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating Dozers D9 to D11.
  • Willing to work in soft ground conditions (Muskeg) and rip frost above shovels.
  • Minimum one year of mining atmosphere preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment and able to follow instructions for safe operation.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written; valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Operate D9–D11 dozers to complete assigned work.
  • Rip above the shovel and support shovels as requested.
  • Read stakes and place grades as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and operating standards.
  • Use appropriate PPE and perform safety checks and risk assessments.
  • Conduct equipment walk-arounds and report repairs or incidents promptly.

Kichton Construction LP is the Fort McMurray based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of companies which has been operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the Energy and Mining Industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to now over 400 team members and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment. KCLP is proud to continue operating alongside our Community Partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton Joint-Venture.

The Role

We are seeking a full-time Dozer Operator's to work in the Fort McMurry area. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 plus years' experience working Dozer in the Oilsands.

Location/Job Details
  • Site: Fort Hills
  • Schedule: 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). 14 days on, 7 off. 14 nights on, 7 off.
  • Accommodations: Camp accommodation is provided.
  • Transportation: Flights are provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary. Bus ing provided from Fort McMurray to the site (before and after rotation).
  • Overtime: After 8 hours in a day and after 40 hours in a week
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Operate D9 - D11 Dozers and various sizes and models of Dozers required to complete assigned work
  • This position involves ripping above the shovel and supporting shovels out at the site as requested
  • Read stakes and be able to place a grade as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all company, client, and legislated safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment before job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds, safety checks, and field-level risk assessments, and ensure all equipment is running properly
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
Compensation/Benefits
  • OT after 8 hours per day.
  • $2.00 per hour increase after 90 days, subject to a successful performance review.
  • 9.6% Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay on all regular hours paid out bi-weekly.
