Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Inc. in Mississauga, Canada seeks a seasoned logistics manager to lead domestic and international shipments, supervise up to five staff, and ensure compliance with company policies.

You will coordinate exports/imports, negotiate rates, and drive service excellence across the department. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years in the logistics industry, with strong leadership and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum five years in the logistics industry with a track record in operations or sales.
  • Experience in a management position handling diverse commodities.
  • Completion of related industry courses is a plus.

Responsabilités

  • Ensures domestic product operations are compliant with HWL policies and regulatory agencies.
  • Arranges exports, imports and customs clearance with carriers, vendors, brokers and other parties.
  • Plans optimal cargo routing based on client needs and service requirements.
  • Keeps clients and partners informed of transport arrangements and status.
  • Verifies weight and dimensions of cargo and processes transport orders.
  • Communicates with applicable parties to meet service requirements and maintains liaison with sales to ensure quality services.
  • Negotiates favorable buying rates with approved vendors and manages documentation flow.
  • Prepares documents for customs clearance and issues required shipping instructions to partners.
  • Provides rate requests, quotations and market insights to clients.
  • Delivers timely invoicing and monitors vendor invoices for accuracy.
  • Trains staff and provides leadership; handles disputes and drives department productivity.
  • Monitors performance and conducts yearly evaluations; distributes workload.

This position has a base compensation range of CAD $70,000.00 to CAD $80,000.00. In addition to this base compensation, you'll benefit from our competitive health and welfare programs, a retirement savings plan, opportunities for tuition assistance, and incentive compensation for eligible positions. Salary determination considers your skills, experience, job location, internal pay equity, and job architecture. Hellmann Worldwide Logistics regularly reviews our pay ranges against industry standards to ensure fairness.

Coordinates ocean, air, transborder, and/or domestic, export and/or import shipments ensuring that service commitments are achieved and maintained in accordance with client requirements and company objectives. To accomplish these tasks with the goal of maximizing profitability for Hellmann.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures domestic product operations are compliant with internal HWL policies and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Arranges exports, imports and customs clearance of cargo with carriers, vendors, trucking companies, warehouse packing facilities, customs brokers, and/or other applicable parties.
  • Plans for and utilizes most optimum routing of cargo based on client needs.
  • Ensures clients, Hellmann partners or other required parties are kept fully informed of transport arrangements and status on a regular basis.
  • Verifies weight and dimensions of cargo.
  • Receives transport orders.
  • Communicates as required with applicable parties to ensure service requirements are achieved.
  • Serves as liaison with sales personnel to ensure quality services are achieved & maintained.
  • Negotiates most favorable buying rates with approved vendors.
  • Processes, issues, distributes, and/or dispatches all required documentation to all applicable parties in a time frame consistent with service needs & company policy.
  • Prepares all documents necessary to complete customs clearance process.
  • Issues statistical reports as required.
  • Issues shipping instructions to Hellmann partners where necessary.
  • Receives rate requests and prepares and issues rate quotations externally and internally as required.
  • Provides advice to clients concerning, but not limited to; terms of delivery and payment, marine insurance, ocean services, container loading, transport alternatives or other matters affecting client needs.
  • Keeps clients informed and maintains knowledge of market trends and changes in service options.
  • Visits clients regularly to monitor their satisfaction level.
  • Checks clients’ credit status prior to arranging transport.
  • Ensures accurate distribution of costs to promote same in projected gross profits.
  • Approves timely and accurately vendor invoices.
  • Harmonizes and implements department procedures to maximize productivity.
  • Distributes workload within the department to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Trains new and existing staff.
  • Handles internal and external disputes.
  • Ensures maximum file profitability via control of vendor costs and maximum net sales.
  • Ensures timely invoicing of files within department as per company guidelines.
  • Monitors and takes necessary corrective action on staff performance and prepares yearly performance evaluations
  • Provides leadership and guidance to department staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises up to five full time employees and may supervise temporary employees from time to time based on projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
  • Previous experience in a management position, handling a wide variety of commodities.
  • Minimum five years in the industry with proven satisfactory track record, operational and/or sales experience.
  • Completion of any industry related course is an asset.
