Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Canada is seeking a Document Controller for a large-scale natural gas pipeline project. You will manage, maintain, and distribute project documentation, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements, with a minimum of five years' experience in document control in construction or industrial settings.

Procore experience is preferred; you will work with EDMS platforms and coordinate document workflows across engineering, quality, safety, and project teams,

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of document control experience in construction or industrial projects.
  • Intermediate hands-on with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
  • Procore experience is preferred (intermediate level or higher).
  • Strong knowledge of document numbering, revision control, and approvals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage high document volumes in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and manage document control processes per project standards.
  • Upload, track, distribute, and archive documents using EDMS systems (Procore).
  • Ensure drawings, specs, RFIs, submittals, and correspondence are current and version-controlled.
  • Coordinate workflows between engineering, construction, quality, safety, and project teams.
  • Monitor status, revisions, approvals, and transmittals; generate logs and reports.
  • Perform quality checks for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of project documentation.
  • Support audits and regulatory reviews with proper traceability.
  • Assist project teams with EDMS usage and document retrieval.

Job Description

Who are you?

The Document Controller will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and distributing project documentation for a large-scale natural gas pipeline construction project. This role ensures that all technical, quality, and project-related documents are accurately controlled, traceable, and compliant with project and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will have minimum 5 years of document control experience within construction or industrial projects and demonstrated intermediate knowledge of EDMS platforms, particularlyProcore.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and manage document control processes in accordance with project standards
  • Upload, track, distribute, and archive documents using EDMS systems, primarilyProcore
  • Ensure all drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and correspondence are current and properly version-controlled
  • Coordinate document workflows between engineering, construction, quality, safety, and project management teams
  • Monitor document status, revisions, approvals, and transmittals
  • Generate document control logs, reports, and trackers as required
  • Perform quality checks to ensure document accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of project documentation
  • Support audits and regulatory reviews by ensuring proper document traceability
  • Assist project teams with EDMS usage and document retrieval when needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5years of experiencein a document control role, preferably within pipeline, construction, or industrial projects
  • Intermediate hands-on experience withElectronic Document Management Systems (EDMS)
  • Procore experience is preferred(intermediate level or higher)
  • Strong understanding of document numbering, revision control, and approval workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage high document volumes in a fast-paced project environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience onnatural gas, oil & gas, or pipeline projects
  • Familiarity with Alberta-based construction or regulatory documentation standards
  • Exposure to engineering and construction drawings (IFC, shop drawings, as-builts)
  • Procore, SharePoint, or other EDMS experience is an asset
