Manitoulin Transport is seeking a dock worker with dispatcher responsibilities in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Responsibilities include unloading inbound freight, loading outbound trailers, using handheld scanners, and coordinating with local drivers.

The role requires forklift certification and WHMIS/Dangerous Goods training or in-house training. Candidates should be able to lift 50 lbs, multitask, and maintain safety standards within the warehouse.

Qualificações

• WHIMS/Dangerous Goods Certificate required or in-house training provided
• Forklift certification required or provided via in-house training
• Developed problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making and judgment skills
• Able to lift 50 lbs repetitively
• Ability to multitask and manage various tasks successfully

Responsabilidades

• Unloads freight from inbound trailers and loads outbound trailers using handheld scanner and staging overflow freight for pickup by linehaul drivers at night
• Distributes freight to local P&D Drivers
• Marks materials with identifying information
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed on handheld device
• Counts and weighs items to ensure conformance to shipper's bill of lading
• Starts heaters, placards trailers as required
• Arranges freight in a specified sequence for maximum trailer space utilization
• Maintains safety and housekeeping in the warehouse; sweeps floors and stores dunnage properly
• End-of-day labeling and driver handling using computer systems
• Other duties may be assigned

Job Description

This is a 60% dock work and 40% dispatcher responsibility

Unloads freight from inbound trailers and loads outbound trailers using the handheld scanner as well as staging overflow freight for pickup by linehaul drivers at night as required

Distributes freight to local P&D Drivers

Marks materials with identifying information

Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed (on handheld device)

Counts and weighs items to ensure conformance to the shipper's bill of lading

Starts heaters, placards trailers as required

Arrange freight in a specified sequence for maximum usage of trailer space

Must take an active role in the safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor, properly storing dunnage, etc.

Tuesday to Saturday work schedule

Work hours Tuesday to Friday are: start at 9 AM, finish at 17:30, orwhen the outbound trailer loading iscompleted. Saturday Start time: 6 AM until 14:00

Computer knowledge - will be responsible for end-of-day labels and handling of drivers

• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

WHIMS/Dangerous Goods Certificate/ Forklift certification( These items are covered with in-house training programs)

Developed problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making and judgment skills

Able to lift 50 lbs, sometimes repetitively

Ability to multitask and manage various tasks successfully

Ability to operate our internal computer systems and handheld scanning devices

• Dependable and able to work in a dock environment safely and efficiently while meeting timelines for departures
• Knowledge of the AS400 system would be an asset
• Willing to train the right applicant
• Have own personal transportation to and from work with a clean driving record
