Gardewine Group is seeking a Dockworker at the Thunder Bay Terminal to unload trailers and manage freight paperwork under the direction of the Dock Foreman. The role supports efficient cross‑dock operations and requires hands‑on teamwork on the dock.

Ideal candidates have experience in a large industrial setting, forklift certification, WHMIS knowledge, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The position emphasizes safety and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must have experience leading a team in a large industrial facility.
• Minimum one year in general freight operations; strong organization under pressure.
• Forklift certification and WHMIS/Health & Safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Participates as an active team member by assisting in the movement of freight on the dock.
• Train and develop dockworkers.
• Create a cooperative work environment with all external and internal customers to ensure a high level of customer service.
• Assist the foreman in the setup and organization of the shift.
• Supervise unloading and loading of trailers/trucks to maintain efficiencies and proper freight handling.
• Assist in solving freight problems as they arise.
• Monitor dock for efficiency and cleanliness.
• Process paperwork in a timely manner per company standards.
• Manage inventory of tools and supplies to reduce risk, loss and damage.
• Practice Safe work procedures and ensure safe team practices.
• Assist in other Dock functions as needed.
