Leavitt Machinery in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a mechanically skilled Dock & Door Field Technician to join our Service team onsite. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain dock systems for a variety of customer sites, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and timely service. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, independence, and good communication; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Dock & Door Technician or related trade is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Welding knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with good time-management.
• Comfort with lifting and working in varying weather.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver''s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for a mechanically skilled Dock & Door Field Technician to join our Service team in Ottawa, Ontario. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain warehouse dock systems, dock levelers, seals, shelters, bumpers, and related components
• Service and repair various types of overhead/rolling steel doors, high-speed doors, and associated hardware
• Complete preventive maintenance and safety inspections
• Respond to service calls in a timely, professional manner
• Document work performed and communicate findings to customers and internal teams
• Ensure all work meets company standards and adheres to safety regulations
• Assist with installations of new dock and door equipment as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Dock & Door Technician, Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, or similar trade is an asset
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Basic welding knowledge is an asset
• Ability to work independently with strong time-management skills
• Comfort with physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

The base pay range for this role is: $32.00 to $37.00 per hour, depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Ottawa, Ontario.
