Job summary

Black & McDonald is seeking an Electrical Project Manager to oversee electrical projects in Halifax, NS, from inception through completion. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, ensure safety, and ensure compliance with CSA Canadian Electrical Code and industry standards.

The role requires 5 years' experience in electrical ICI with supervisory duties, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Procore and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience in the electrical ICI sector with supervision
• Strong project management, scheduling, and budgeting skills
• Knowledge of electrical codes and CSA Canadian Electrical Code
• Proficiency with Procore and JD Edwards/Oracle ERP systems
• Ability to obtain Level II Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

Job description

An Electrical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating electrical projects from inception to completion. They play a crucial role in the successful execution of our projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, schedule creation, resource allocation, and risk assessments.\
• Budget Management: Create and manage project budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
• Technical Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of electrical principles, CSA Canadian Electrical Code and industry standards.
• Client Communication: Effectively communicate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure project goals are met.
• Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet specifications.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and enforce safety protocols on the job site.
• Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve project issues and challenges in a timely manner

EDUCATION / COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

• Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Problem-solving and decision‑making skills
• Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations
• Proficiency in relevant software tools: JDE, Procore

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience in the construction industry is preferred:

• Construction Management
• 5 years' experience in the electrical ICI sector combined with supervisory and/or superintendents' role
