Job summary

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is seeking a Distribution Civil Foreman to supervise a distribution construction crew, plan daily activities, and ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

You will read blueprints, coordinate materials, and lead field operations across multiple sites in Canada. This hands-on role requires strong leadership, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Four+ years in civil construction, preferably within utility, electrical distribution, telecommunications, or related infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading or supervising a construction crew.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, specs, and contract documents.
• Experience with distribution civil construction tasks: excavation, trenching, foundations, concrete, pole bases, underground infrastructure, and site restoration.
• Experience operating or supervising construction equipment and tools.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage, supervise, and maintain an assigned distribution construction crew.
• Establish, adjust, and maintain work sequences to meet project schedules and milestones.
• Plan and coordinate daily manpower, materials, tools, and equipment requirements.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and contract documents.
• Supervise civil construction activities on distribution projects including excavation, trenching, backfilling, foundations, concrete work, pole installation, duct banks, and site restoration.
• Operate and oversee the safe use of hand tools, power tools, small equipment, and heavy equipment as required.
• Identify and resolve field issues and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
• Coordinate activities with other crews, subcontractors, utilities, and trades for smooth project execution.
• Support quality control inspections to ensure work meets project specifications and standards.
• Ensure all work complies with safety requirements and company policies.
