Job summary

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies seeks a Distribution Civil Foreman to lead a field crew on distribution projects across Canada. You will supervise workers, coordinate daily activities, and ensure work aligns with plans, specifications, and safety standards.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong organization, and the ability to read blueprints while maintaining quality and schedule. Travel to project sites and extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years of experience in civil construction.
• Experience leading or supervising a construction crew.
• Experience with distribution civil construction, including excavation, trenching, foundations, concrete, pole bases, underground infrastructure, duct banks, and site restoration.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience operating and/or overseeing the safe use of construction equipment and tools.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and jobsite coordination.
• Ability to identify constructability issues and develop practical field solutions.
• Experience working around active utility infrastructure is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise an assigned distribution construction crew.
• Establish and adjust work sequences to meet project schedules.
• Plan and coordinate daily manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specs, and contract documents.
• Supervise civil construction activities including excavation, trenching, foundations, concrete work, and pole bases.
• Maintain safety and ensure compliance with codes and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with other crews, subcontractors, utilities, and trades for smooth execution.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to crew members.
