Job summary

Mérieux NutriSciences is hiring a Dispatcher to manage daily scheduling of client sample pickups and deliveries at 90 Gough Rd, Markham, ON. You will ensure safe, timely pickups and quality service to laboratory clients.

The role requires coordinating courier routes, training staff on sampling procedures, maintaining records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This on-site position offers full-time permanent employment with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or relevant work experience is required or preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food science or laboratory safety procedures is preferred.
  • General knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is required to ensure accurate data entry and documentation.
  • Supervisory skills are essential to manage courier staff and daily operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are needed to interface with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule daily pickup and delivery routes for client samples.
  • Verify courier logs and ensure proper recording of temperatures and data.
  • Coordinate client pickup requests with time/place and supplies.
  • Train couriers on sample handling and hand-offs within the lab workflow.
  • Maintain courier route sheets, training files and IMS Weighers/Samplers license.
  • Support sampling programs and assist couriers with routing and materials.

YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE

We are looking for a Dispatcher in 90 Gough Rd, Markham, ON L3R 5V5 CAN. Your mission will be to:

Purpose (Objective)

Responsible for the daily scheduling of client samples pick-ups and deliveries. This individual provides personalized support and quality service to the clients of the laboratory.

Main activities
  • Arrange work schedule of the courier routes to ensure that all clients’ samples are picked up and accounted for in a safe and timely manner.
  • Verify that the courier logs are documented correctly and no data obliteration is present. Ensure that all cooler temperatures and sample temperatures are recorded properly.
  • Schedule incoming client requests for sample pick-ups. Identify their requirements for time and place of pick-up and any supplies needed.
  • Educate and train courier personnel on correct sample handling and storage of different sample matrix during transport, as well as correct procedure of sample hand-off to sample receiving personnel.
  • Maintain courier route sheets and route books to ensure all information is current and up to date.
  • Maintain courier-training files and ensure that all couriers have been trained to and completed IMS Weighers and Samplers license.
  • Help coordinate, track, and maintain special sampling programs.
  • Assist couriers with routing and needed materials. Pick up samples as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of sampling supplies.
  • Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities.
  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Knowledge
Profile
  • Associates required or relevant work experience, Bachelors preferred.
Required skills
  • A basic knowledge of food science obtained from related job experience.
  • A broad knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment.
  • A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to ensure accurate entry and proper documentation.
  • Supervisory skills are essential to secure proper and efficient daily operation of assigned tasks.
  • This position requires fully developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with clients and build departmental relationships.
  • Client empathy and a general knowledge of service attributes that support high client satisfaction are required to provide proactive and responsive service to clients.
  • Planning skills are needed to ensure that samples are received properly for future procedures.
Management
  • Helps supervise the activities of the courier staff. Responsibilities include coordinating daily route pickups, training, giving input on performance appraisals, disciplining and assigning work. The courier dispatch helps coordinate activities of the department with the courier supervisor.

W orks in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. The incumbent is required to lift 10-50 pounds of sample as they are received. This individual works extensively with the computer on a daily basis to obtain and enter information. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position.

Compensation: $23 -25 per hour
