Qualifications

Job description

Midland Transport is currently seeking a Dispatcher to be based at our Dartmouth Terminal. The selected candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a "Can Do" attitude.

The Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

Available for shift coverage as required.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years' experience in dispatch (asset)
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills
• Knowledge of AS400 (asset)
• Ability to work with minimal supervision under pressure and time constraints in a stressful environment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities:

• Communicate daily with an assigned fleet of drivers via phone and handheld to ensure proper load instructions are passed and executed
• Line up loads to optimize time efficiency and load factor
• Manage service concerns to limit exposure and minimize customer impact
• Coordinate maintenance for city tractors and trailers
• Assist other dispatch staff during workload spikes
• Prepare and analyze various reports as required
• Provide drivers with accurate information and equipment to ensure a positive customer experience
• Assist with dock operations as needed
• Update service records and utilize data analysis to improve operations and increase productivity
