Job summary

The Canal District in Sault Ste. Marie is seeking dependable, hardworking Dishwashers / Kitchen Attendants to join the culinary team. You will help keep kitchens clean, organized, and running smoothly during service, weddings, banquets, and events.

Responsibilities include washing and sanitizing ware, maintaining a clean dish area, assisting with general kitchen tasks, and supporting opening/closing procedures while observing food safety standards. Flexible evenings/weekends expected.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is an asset, but not required.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
• Must be available for a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Food Handler Certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area
• Assist with general kitchen cleaning and sanitation
• Remove garbage and recycling and maintain waste areas
• Keep floors, work areas, and storage spaces clean and safe
• Restock clean dishes, cookware, and kitchen supplies
• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and other duties as required
• Support opening and closing kitchen procedures
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
• Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, servers, and other team members
