Role Summary

The Dishwasher reports directly to the Sous Chef and the Head Chef and performs a wide variety of duties. These include operating and maintaining the main dishwasher machine and hand washing station ensuring all dishware, silverware, pots, pans and other kitchen utensils are cleaned and sanitized. The role ensures the kitchen is kept organized and sanitized throughout their shift and maintains and stocks cleaning supplies. Additionally the dishwasher will assist in basic kitchen prep and other duties as assigned.

Key Accountabilities

  • Washing of all chinaware, glass ware, dishes, platters, basket, flat ware, cooking ware, kitchen utensils, Thermos containers, etc.
  • Mopping and sweeping the kitchen, coolers and storage areas.
  • Maintaining the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the Food and Beverage department.
  • Communicating any failure or malfunction of washing, cleaning and sanitizing equipment to the Sous Chef and Head Chef.
  • Basic preparations, peeling, cutting and transformation of raw vegetables, fruits.
  • Displaying a sense of ownership in their work.
  • Maintaining professional conduct and etiquette.
  • Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the Hotel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and directed by Sous Chef and Head Chef.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Food Safe certificate an asset
  • Minimum 1 year in a professional kitchen
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Skills and Abilities

  • Previous dishwashing experience is an asset.
  • Possess good health and safety habits.
  • Must be personable and friendly.
  • High energy and strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • A passion for food and a desire to execute at a high level.
  • Must be able to work morning, evening and weekend shifts as business dictates.
