Job summary

Ciena, a global leader in optical networking, seeks a senior product leader to define Waveserver strategy, roadmaps, and investment priorities to drive portfolio growth. Translate customer and market needs into actionable plans and align across engineering, marketing, supply chain, and sales.

You will lead business cases, pricing strategies, and lifecycle profitability, guiding cross-functional teams through complex decisions with occasional travel to engage customers and partners.

Qualifications

• Must have 10+ years in the industry, including 5+ years in product line management
• Experience with coherent optical systems, DWDM, OTN, Ethernet services
• Experience leading new product introductions and business case development
• Experience aligning cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders
• Experience with pricing, forecasting, margin management, and customer value positioning
• Ability to communicate with executive audiences and manage complex priorities and travel

Responsibilities

• Define and drive Waveserver product strategy, roadmap direction, and investment priorities
• Translate customer, sales, and market requirements into product requirements, release priorities, and lifecycle plans
• Lead cross-functional alignment across engineering, marketing, supply chain, procurement, services, and sales
• Drive customer engagements, roadmap discussions, RFP/RFQ responses, offer defense activities, and product trials
• Develop business cases for features, hardware, software releases, pricing strategies, cost optimization initiatives, and investment decisions
• Manage product line performance through revenue planning, volume forecasting, margin improvement, competitive positioning, and lifecycle profitability
• Monitor market developments across optical networking, coherent technologies, DCI, hyperscale networking, encryption, automation, open APIs, fiber sensing, and high-capacity aggregation applications
