Job summary

Canadian Strategic Missions Corp. (CSMC) in Waterloo, Ontario, seeks a Director/VP of Nuclear Engineering to lead reactor design, physics analyses, and regulatory readiness.

The role partners with the CEO and senior leaders to advance microreactor technology from concept to prototype and deployment, supported by CSA N286/N299 compliance. The position is on-site in Waterloo, with responsibility for governance across safety analyses, licensing, and external collaborations with government and labs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
• 10–15+ years of experience in nuclear engineering, reactor development, or regulated nuclear programs.
• Experience in CNSC-regulated environments (VDR/PDR/licensing).
• Strong understanding of nuclear systems, reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, and multiphysics analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Nuclear Engineering department, including reactor design, analysis, modelling, and systems integration.
• Oversee development of microreactor systems, including core design, heat-transport systems, shielding, and safety components.
• Support early CNSC engagement and licensing strategy development; ensure regulatory defensibility of outputs.
• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and external partners across multiple projects; lead planning, resource allocation, risk management, and execution.
• Produce high‑quality technical reports and present findings to executives, regulators, partners, and review boards.
