Position: Director, Talent Management – People & Culture


Location: Remote or Hybrid (London, Toronto, or Edmonton)


Classification: Full-Time


Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000 plus 20% bonus

Your area of focus

Shape the Future of Talent at AutoCanada! Are you a visionary and results-oriented leader passionate about building exceptional teams? AutoCanada is on an exciting growth journey, and we're seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Talent Management to lead our efforts in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent across our national network. In this pivotal role, you'll lead our Talent Acquisition team and drive strategies in Performance Management, Talent Identification and Succession Planning, Talent Development, Talent Retention, and DEIB initiatives.


What drives your day-to-day?

End-to-End Talent Strategy

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for acquiring, managing, and developing talent to meet AutoCanada’s current and future needs.
  2. Collaborate with senior leaders to align talent strategies with business objectives.
  3. Develop a holistic talent management framework covering performance, development, succession, and engagement.
  4. Ensure alignment with organizational culture, values, and long-term vision.

Talent Acquisition

  1. Lead the talent acquisition team, including forecasting needs, developing job descriptions, and attracting high-caliber candidates.
  2. Ensure effective recruitment processes support company growth.
  3. Build relationships with candidates, schools, and universities to create a talent pipeline.

Performance Management

  1. Design and implement performance management systems.
  2. Ensure continuous feedback and development processes.
  3. Facilitate goal setting aligned with organizational objectives.

Talent Identification and Succession Planning

  1. Develop programs to identify high-potential team members and prepare them for leadership roles.
  2. Implement succession planning strategies for leadership continuity.
  3. Analyze talent data and provide insights to senior leaders.

Talent Development

  1. Create programs for team member development, including training and mentorship.
  2. Partner with AutoCanada University for leadership development programs.
  3. Foster a culture of continuous learning.

Talent Retention

  1. Develop strategies to retain valuable team members.
  2. Monitor satisfaction and engagement, addressing issues proactively.
  3. Collaborate on retention plans supporting career growth.

DEIB Initiatives

  1. Lead initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion.
  2. Develop strategies to ensure all team members feel valued.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  1. Analyze talent metrics to inform decisions.
  2. Present reports on talent management metrics to leadership.
What Are The Must-haves
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related; Master’s preferred.
  • Proven experience in talent management and related areas.
  • Program and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to DEIB principles.
  • Automotive or Retail experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS/ATS software.
