The Role

CPP Investments is seeking a strategic and commercially minded Director, Talent Business Partner to advise senior leaders on organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, workforce priorities, and culture. Reporting to the Managing Director, Talent Business Partner, you will partner closely with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into practical talent solutions while providing trusted advice on succession, organizational design, workforce planning, talent risk, and leadership effectiveness. As a senior talent advisor for the portfolio, the successful candidate will provide insight and recommendations on leadership, succession, organizational design, workforce planning, and talent risk.

The Team

The Talent function partners with leaders across CPP Investments to strengthen organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and workforce planning in support of business priorities. The Talent Business Partner team serves as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, working closely with Talent Centres of Excellence and corporate functions to deliver integrated talent solutions that enable high performance and organizational effectiveness.

Accountabilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, succession, and team performance. Translate business priorities and capability needs into practical talent and workforce plans in partnership with senior leaders and Talent colleagues. Provide thoughtful, data-informed advice on complex organizational and people decisions, leveraging workforce insights to identify risks, trends, and opportunities. Support and deliver organizational design and change initiatives that improve effectiveness and advance business priorities. Apply sound talent judgment to succession, promotion, performance, and leadership decisions while coaching leaders through leadership, team, and organizational challenges. Partner with Talent Centres of Excellence to deliver talent programs and practices aligned with CPP Investments' enterprise talent philosophy and leadership expectations. Contribute to enterprise-wide Talent initiatives, share leading practices across the function, and exemplify CPP Investments' Guiding Principles of integrity, partnership, and high performance.

What You Bring
  • Proven HR business partnering experience advising senior leaders in complex, global organizations, with 10+ years of human resources experience, including significant experience in an HR Business Partner or talent advisory role; financial services experience is considered an asset.
  • Deep expertise in organizational design, succession planning, leadership development, workforce planning, and change management.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect talent solutions to business priorities and measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated consulting capability and sound judgment in navigating complex organizational issues and supporting organizational and cultural change.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder influencing skills, with the credibility and discretion to partner effectively with senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience translating workforce data and insights into clear, practical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated alignment with CPP Investments' Guiding Principles of partnership, high performance, and integrity.
