Job summary

Trent University is seeking a Director of Student Affairs for the Durham campus. The role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of student services designed to foster self-discovery, community engagement, and lifelong learning.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in counselling, coaching, student conduct, or equity-related areas are assets.
  • Seven years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs or related fields within a post-secondary institution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and execution of a multi-year strategic plan for the Durham Student Affairs, aligning with institutional priorities and student success frameworks.
  • Direct staff and manage budget, training, supervision, and performance management in a hybrid or on-site environment.
  • Oversee curriculum development, learning assessments, orientation, leadership development, equity initiatives, and student rights within Durham and cross-campus collaboration.
  • Lead crisis management, conduct policies, and student welfare initiatives with a restorative and educational approach.
  • Drive strategies to improve retention, engagement, and student success across multiple functional areas.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and external partners to inform planning and ensure compliance with governing legislation.
