Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking a Director, Strategic Content to lead the vision and presence of Global Security. This senior role blends storytelling with strategic content development across security and risk, demanding strong relationship management and influence.

You will orchestrate strategy updates, craft executive messaging, and translate complex security concepts into clear narratives for boards and senior leaders, partnering with executives and communications teams.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of strategic communications experience, including executive communications, reputation management, and/or change management.
  • Highly skilled at absorbing complex concepts and translating this into executive-level language.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, with the ability to synthesize disparate information into cohesive storytelling.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and design skills to craft presentations from start to finish.
  • Strategy development experience within a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills for varied audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Leadership and stakeholder management to influence and collaborate.
  • Degree/Diploma in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Global Security strategy and updates coordination.
  • Translate performance metrics into compelling narrative for reporting cycles.
  • Prepare high-impact strategic presentations and internal messages.
  • Develop messaging for RBC Board and committees and support executives on programs.
  • Maintain relationships with Executives and communications partners.

What is the opportunity?

The Director, Strategic Content play a pivotal role in driving the vision and presence of Global Security. As part of the Strategic Initiatives & Regulatory Delivery team, you will assist in developing the Strategic Content portfolio for Global Security. This is a high impact role that blends exceptional storytelling with strategic content development related to security and risk across RBC. This position is well suited for a senior leader with strong relationship management and influencing skills.

What will you do?
  • Global Security strategy and periodic Updates: Oversee the orchestration, content development, and co-crafting of Global Security’s strategy and periodic Updates

  • Develop strategic content and translate performance metrics and achievements into compelling narrative during reporting cycles, promoting a shared understanding of RBC's security and risk priorities and posture

  • Drive the development and execution of communications for Global Security Executives, including but not limited to preparing high-impact strategic presentations, drafting internal messages, and creating technical updates

  • Board & Executive Communications: Develop strategic messaging and content for, but not limited to, presentations to RBC’s Board of Directors and sub boards, Risk Committees, and operational committees, translating complex technical concepts into clear updates. In addition, support executives on key strategic programs/initiatives

  • Manage and maintain collaborative relationships with Executives, senior management teams, communications partners, and RBC lines of business.

  • Develop and/or recommend effective communications strategies and brand best practices, including developing and maintaining Global Security communication.

  • Research & Insights: Research and connect with a wide range of stakeholders on complex security initiatives and trends impacting our organization and community

  • Translate data into strategic insights for senior leaders

What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
  • 10+ years of strategic communications experience, including executive communications, reputation management, and/or change management

  • Highly skilled at absorbing complex concepts and translating this into executive-level language

  • Exceptional critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize disparate information and integrate strategic components into cohesive storytelling

  • Excellent PowerPoint and design skills, with the ability to craft compelling presentations from start to finish.

  • Strategy development experience with a forward-thinking mindset, working within a complex, matrixed environment.

  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas for varied audiences.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and ability to perform independent research

  • Leadership and stakeholder management skills to influence and collaborate effectively.

  • Degree/Diploma in a relevant field

Nice to have:
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator)

  • Professional Certifications: CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) or SCMP (Strategic Communication Management Professional).

  • Security & Risk Certifications: CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) or CCISP (Certified Cyber Security and Information Professional).

  • Change Management Certifications: Prosci or CCMP (Certified Change Management Professional)
