Job summary

Capital One Canada is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams focused on customer-facing web and mobile applications. You will champion foundational technology capabilities, scalable microservices, and real-time systems hosted on AWS, guiding teams toward delivery excellence and security.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience in people management.
• At least 3 years of experience leading multiple teams within an agile environment.
• At least 1 year of experience managing other managers including talent development, performance management, team building and succession planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead with humility and grow talented engineers who are building the next level of engineering capabilities.
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers in the organization.
• Raise accountability and build a culture that continuously raises the bar for excellence.
• Build psychological safety on your teams and adjacent teams.
• Engage with stakeholders to define strategic imperatives and execute roadmaps for digital products and services.
• Work across agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of tools.
• Stay current with tech trends and advocate for new technologies and open-source communities.
