TEEMA is partnered with an industry-leading Fintech Company on a search for their next Director of Software Development. You will lead teams responsible for digital banking software used by millions of Canadians on web and mobile platforms.
What you'll be doing:
- Demonstrate strong technical leadership, people management, and customer-centric skills, including excellent communication and analytical abilities with a thorough understanding of product development.
- Enable rapid innovation using Agile methodologies and Scrum.
- Manage multiple software development teams / Agile Squads of up to 30 developers / QA/QE.
- Drive quality standards, methods, metrics, and procedures, ensuring and evaluating software quality.
- Ensure projects are adequately staffed, trained, and managed through personnel development, training, and cross-training.
- Design, develop, and maintain operational processes for continuous product improvement.
- Partner with Enterprise Architects to ensure robust, maintainable software design leveraging industry best practices.
- Build a world-class software development team to deliver complex platforms and digital/payment projects.
- Provide strategic technical roadmaps for digital platform vision and guide implementation.
- Continue maturing Agile processes (Scrum, Kanban) and mindset.
What you'll have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in Software Development/Engineering.
- 6+ years in leadership roles managing multiple teams.
- A natural leader with empathy and collaborative skills.
- Knowledge of modern technologies such as AngularJS, APIs/Microservices, and J2EE stack.
- Proven expertise in DevOps and CI/CD.
- Experience leading large-scale IT implementations.
- Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, OpenStack, Azure, CloudFoundry).
- Active participation in the local developer community, online and in person.
- Payment domain knowledge and relevant experience is a plus.
