Reporting to the Senior Director (SD) Regulatory Reporting, the Director Regulatory Reporting is accountable for managing the Canadian regulatory financial reporting responsibilities, establishing best practices in CFO Group’s control framework in collaboration with various Finance and functional teams, and support senior leaders across CFO group and the RBC Enterprise. What will you do?
Build and lead a talented and motivated team responsible for RBC’s Regulatory Financial Reporting in Canada, establish and maintain an effective financial control environment, provide analysis and insights for senior management across RBC. This role is:

  • Accountable for the accurate and timely filings of financial information for our Canadian Regulators including OSFI, Bank of Canada and StatsCan
  • Accountable to centralize regulatory reporting for Canadian Regulators from across RBC finance teams to FRR; standardize business processes, conform and automate as appropriate.
  • Accountable to establish and maintain an effective financial control environment, including operating guidelines and a RACI collaboration framework for effective partnership with businesses, platform and legal entity controllers.
  • Responsible for managing and enabling related critical data feeds from financial systems, establish critical data IT controls. Ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement of data infrastructure to maximize efficiency and enhancing value-added capabilities.
  • Responsible for research and to provide technical guidance on regulatory filing specifics and interpretation; seek guidance from regulators and/or collaborate with other applicable member institutions as appropriate.
  • Responsible for addressing specific technical queries raised by RBC stakeholders. This includes communication to senior management through issue life cycle: identification, recommendation, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Accountable for external regulatory audits, reviews and examinations.
  • Lead and mentor the regulatory reporting team, ensuring team’s professional development, skill enhancement and goal achievement.
  • Foster collaboration and high performance with key stakeholders including platform financial control teams, IT, Group Risk Management, Accounting Policy Group, Tax, Capital and other Enterprise Controllers Group partners, striving to be a center of knowledge and excellence with accountability in resolving all regulatory reporting matters in Canada.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • CPA designation or equivalent, with 10+ years of experience. Regulatory reporting experience is preferred.
  • Strong control and governance mindset
  • Excellent attention to details and can explain complex issues in a concise and meaningful manner.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize cross-functional groups to deliver on common goals; Strong team and people management skills
  • Able to consistently exercise independent thought and adapt to new circumstances quickly
  • Curiosity to explore better ways of working and motivating the team while maintaining a strong control and governance mindset, accompanied by a drive to take ownership for and resolve issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to multitask.
