What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Director of Regulatory Programs, this role is responsible for providing a leadership role in ensuring regulatory/portfolio risk is managed within CIBC's risk appetite statement, investigating complex regulatory issues stemming from existing regulations that apply to Personal Lending through deep analytical insights into key drivers of Personal Lending portfolios. Key accountabilities include leading the investigation, identifying root causes through a data driven approach, taking a strategic perspective on the sustainability of recommended solutions, and reporting/presentation of complex matters to senior executives. This role also performs a key role in consulting on complex regulatory matters related to the first, second, and third line of defense functions across all Personal Lending portfolios.

How you'll succeed

  • Strategy and Planning – Demonstrate strong knowledge of Personal Lending products, processes, and systems, including experience in managing complex regulatory issues impacting Personal Lending products, including conducting an in-depth analysis of issues arising from existing regulatory matters, working closely with executives and their teams within key stakeholder groups to identify root causes, remediation, and potential solutions (both strategic and tactical). This includes providing oversight for key processes..

  • Regulatory/Portfolio - Lead and provide direction to various team members on complex regulatory matters and ensuring Personal Lending key metrics are proactively managed by providing insights into lending portfolio dynamics. Oversee development of trends and potential options through assessing the impact of evolving changes through deep analytical insights, effectiveness and making authoritative recommendations through insights from a deep understanding of data. The role is responsible for the overall design, development and implementation of recommendations agreed to.

  • People Management - Lead, motivate and coach on an on-going basis. Identify gaps and remove obstacles to performance, develop action plans to align with business priorities. Create a positive work environment and role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values. Comply with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect. Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in the management of complex regulatory matters. It's an asset if you provide deep analytical insights, strategic planning, and project management sufficient to identify, develop, and implement approved initiatives on personal lending regulatory matters. You have strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and presentation skills sufficient to prepare and present material to an executive audience.
