Job summary

Valard Construction in Edmonton, AB, is seeking a Director of Project Accounting to lead our finance team and own divisional P&L accuracy. You will drive project accounting, cost control, WIP reporting and revenue recognition across multiple business lines, reporting to the CFO.

You bring CPA designation, 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with 5+ years in leadership, and deep GAAP/IFRS knowledge. JD Edwards or SAP proficiency and strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation required.
• 10 years progressive accounting experience, 5+ years in leadership.
• Strong GAAP/IFRS knowledge and construction revenue recognition.
• Experience with Job Costing, Project Analytics and WIP Reporting.
• ERP proficiency and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience standardizing practices across multiple units.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project and divisional accounting functions with accurate reporting.
• Lead month-, quarter-, and year-end closures.
• Own divisional P&L and project accounting across business lines.
• Set standards for percentage-of-completion and EAC adjustments.
• Lead budgeting processes and financial forecasting.
• Maintain SOX controls and internal controls to mitigate risk.
• Develop and manage Business Unit Controllers.
