Job summary

Housing NWT, part of the Government of the Northwest Territories, is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its Director of Policy and Planning in Yellowknife. You will guide policy development, legislative initiatives, planning, and communications, while providing expert advice to senior leaders and Cabinet.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a university degree in social science or related field with a postgraduate diploma and at least 5 years of progressive experience, including 3 years in supervision/management.
  • Equivalencies allow a related degree with 7 years of directly related experience or a college diploma with 10 years of progressively responsible experience, including supervisory roles.
  • Relevant education includes: Business Admin, Economics, Indigenous Governance, Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead policy development, planning and communications while advising senior executives and Cabinet.
  • Oversee legislative initiatives, budgeting, briefing materials, and program oversight.
  • Foster Indigenous government partnerships and self-government implementation.
  • Engage stakeholders and provide strategic direction on housing policy across the territory.

Key Qualifications
Completion of a university degree in social science or related field as well as a postgraduate diploma with at least 5 years of progressive experience, preferably in government, including at least 3 years of supervisor/management experience

Equivalencies
A university degree in a related field and at least 7 years of directly related experience in lieu of a post-graduate diploma

A college level diploma in a related field and at least 10 years of progressively responsible directly related experience, including three in a supervisory or management capacity

Relevant education includes:
Business Administration, Economics, Indigenous Governance, Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Sciences

Relevant experience includes:
Advising senior executives, Budget management, Policy development and analysis, Preparation of briefing materials, Program oversight, Stakeholder relations, Strategic planning,
