Job summary

The Government of Northwest Territories invites applications for the Regional Manager, Career Development in Yellowknife. The role directs Career Development, Apprenticeship, Literacy and Labour Market programs to maximize opportunities for applicants in the region.

Key responsibilities include providing leadership to the regional partners, delivering labour market programs, supporting community capacity, and overseeing the annual budget for Labour Market, Career Development and Apprenticeship

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree and three (3) years of experience in the career development field including one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Equivalencies acceptable include degrees or diplomas with related experience and possible master's requirements for advanced positions.
  • All equivalencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, per policy.

  • Provide leadership to the unit and regional partners to ensure a coherent system of labour market programs and services is available to the public.
  • Manage the delivery of ECE's training and employment programs, including Employment Insurance Benefits and Measures.
  • Provide community support and facilitate ongoing community capacity building activities in the Region.
  • Manage the annual Labour Market, Career Development and Apprenticeship Training Budget.

Department Information

The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.

Job Information

The Regional Manager, Career Development is accountable for planning, directing, controlling and evaluating the delivery of Career and Employment development, Apprenticeship, Literacy and Labour Market Agreement programs and services, in accordance with the Government of the Northwest Territories Acts, regulations and departmental policies, to maximize employment and education opportunities for applicants in the Region and to ensure accountability and results.

Key Responsibilities

Key Qualifications

Equivalencies

  • Relevant Degree would be considered as: Degree in Career Development, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, Counselling, or another related social science discipline.
  • A Master's degree in Career Development, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, Counselling, or another related social science discipline and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the career development field and 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • A diploma in Career Development, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, Counselling, or another related social science discipline and a minimum of five (5) year of experience in the career development field and 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • All other equivalencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
