About The Role
This is a high profile, national director role who is accountable for the identification, development and implementation of Operational Excellence initiatives and projects that improve the operational efficiency, quality, and customer delivery of our Personal Lines Underwriting & distribution teams.
In this role you will lead key strategic optimization projects from ideation to implementation. You will work across multiple departments and stakeholders to ensure cohesive and effective solutions are delivered. You will partner with Operations & Planning, Corporate, IT and Underwriting to influence and drive prioritization of resources to develop solutions that optimize business delivery. Your role is about driving measurable and impactful continuous improvement. This role requires excellent communication skills as you will need to be able to disseminate complex information for a wide range of audiences from front line to executives.
You will partner with communications and change management teams to ensure successful deployment of a wide range of technology and process solutions and ensure adoption of the new workflows and tools is achieved. You will lead, engage, coach and develop a team of managers and technical specialists to ensure performance is optimized and goals are achieved. You will be an innovative and agile problem solver, having the ability to clearly define the opportunity to solve for and provide a range of solutions, you and your team will need to implement, track and monitor the solutions to ensure benefits are being delivered. You will need to manage project risks and issues and put appropriate mitigation plans in place.
The role is wide in scope and interacts across all locations and multiple teams, you will need to be a skilled collaborator and drive the change that is needed to optimize the performance of the Intact Insurance personal lines business.
This role reports to: Vice President, Personal lines Operational performance and Strategic distribution

Leadership And Team Management
- Lead, engage and coach project teams to achieve set objectives.
- Responsible for fostering a positive team culture by promoting collaboration, encouraging open communication, and ensuring a supportive and inclusive work environment
- Regularly assess individual and team performance, provide constructive feedback and recognition.
Planning And Strategy
- Develop and implement project management strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with the Vice President to prioritize projects and allocate necessary resources.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets and resource allocations.
Project Management
- Leadership of key optimization Projects from ideation to implementation to drive Operational effectiveness resulting in increased efficiency, customer satisfaction and employee engagement
- Identification and implementation of best practices that drive consistency and efficiency to enhance productivity and quality standards of Underwriting teams.
- Delivery of streamlined processes to remove bottle necks, speed up customer delivery and reduce costs.
- Manage project risks and issues, by putting in place appropriate mitigation plans.
- In partnership with others develop robust business cases to enable the tracking of benefits of operational initiatives
Communication, Collaboration And Coordination
- Work effectively across multiple departments and stakeholders to ensure cohesive and effective and innovative solutions are delivered for Operational teams.
- Maintain regular communication with the Vice President and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Prepare and present progress reports, performance analyses and recommendations.
- Facilitate project meetings and ensure adequate documentation.
- Identify & partner with change management resources to ensure successful implementation & adoption of best practices and processes.
Continuous Improvement
- Leadership and management of a team to ensure effective delivery of continuous improvement solutions for the business.
- Use Key performance Indicators and metrics to analyse impact of Operational excellence initiatives.
- Leverage technology advancements and data analytics to drive operational improvement.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to optimize the efficiency and quality of projects.
- Follow trends and best practices in project management to innovate and improve internal processes.
What You Bring To The Table
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience managing a team
- Experience managed large complex projects – is required
- PMP designation
- Insurance industry experience in Personal lines – is required
- Ability to impact, influence & provide leadership at a strategic level.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with cross functional team and stakeholders at all levels.
- Make decisions and solve problems.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire.
- Innovative thinker.
- Data analysis to identify opportunities and measure impacts of initiatives on the business performance.
- Strong project management skills to lead large complex national projects.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
