Job summary

The BCPVPA invites applications for the position of Director, Member Support Services (MSS) in Vancouver. This full-time, continuing role reports to the Executive Director and focuses on building on the association’s strength in employment relationship support for 2,700 principals and vice-principals across BC.

The Director will lead MSS initiatives, deliver workshops, advise on personal contracts and pensions, and collaborate with education sector partners.

Qualifications

• Has demonstrated success as a district and/or school leader in the BC public school system or equivalent.
• Has extensive knowledge of the BC School Act and School Law, roles of Principals and Vice‑Principals, and governance model of BC public education.
• Has extensive knowledge and experience in human resources, labour relations, and employment law and processes, including Employment Standards Act and WorkSafeBC.
• Has completed relevant labour relations, contract administration, and negotiation training (BCPSEA or equivalent).
• Has demonstrated success supporting Principals and Vice‑Principals with relational, collaborative leadership.
• Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication; English fluent, French an asset.
• Demonstrates political acumen, sound judgment, and discretion in complex education system matters.
• Thrives in fast-paced environments, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience in systems leadership and change management.
• Coaching, mediation, and trauma-informed approaches to workplace matters.

Responsibilities

• Provides guidance to members on employment relationship issues and personal services contracts.
• Offers one-to-one support and representation for members undergoing investigations, terminations, and related matters.
• Liaises with school districts to support members and facilitate resolution of employment issues.
• Develops and delivers workshops (in-person and virtual) on MSS topics, collaborating with PLD as needed.
• Reports to the Executive Director and supports Board and Chapter meetings.
• Develops print and online content to promote knowledge of contracts, pensions, and fiduciary responsibilities.
• Supports Chapter Representatives with workshops and tailored guidance.
• Travels within the province as required and may work extended hours with time in lieu.
