Job summary

Alberta Blue Cross is seeking a Director of IT Cybersecurity to shape and govern a risk-based security program for the organization. You will oversee the cybersecurity portfolio, align strategy with enterprise objectives, and partner with executives to embed cybersecurity into planning.

A senior leader will drive governance, policy, and incident response while building a high-performing team across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field; advanced education or cybersecurity certifications are strong assets.
• 10+ years IT leadership, including 5+ years overseeing enterprise cybersecurity portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and regulatory expectations.
• Financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, capital planning and value realization.
• Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams with collaboration and trust.
• Strategic thinking and data-driven decision making for risk-based planning.
• Ability to inspire, coach and develop talent across a cybersecurity organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire cybersecurity teams; foster collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
• Direct and oversee cybersecurity managers and subject matter experts.
• Define and execute a multi-year cybersecurity strategy aligned to enterprise objectives and risk appetite.
• Oversee governance, risk management, and incident response across the portfolio.
• Build relationships with executives and business partners to embed cybersecurity in enterprise planning.
• Manage budget and spend for the cybersecurity portfolio.
• Lead enterprise-wide incident response and rapid recovery efforts.
• Represent Alberta Blue Cross on national committees and regulatory bodies.
