Position: Remote Director of IT – Infrastructure & Operations (Hands-On)

Location: Remote (Must reside in Canada; Quebec residency is an asset)

Travel: Occasional U.S. and international travel required

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on IT Director to lead our infrastructure and operations across a global enterprise environment. This role combines strategic leadership with deep technical execution. You will oversee a distributed team supporting both corporate and warehouse locations across multiple time zones, while owning the roadmap for our hybrid infrastructure and modern endpoint environment.

This is a rare opportunity to lead transformational IT initiatives—including cloud migrations, Zero-Trust security implementations, and enterprise-wide modernization projects—while staying close to the technology.

Eligibility Requirements

• Canadian citizen with 5+ years of continuous Canadian residency (required for security clearance)
• Valid passport and authorization for international travel
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• PMP certification is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

• This person must be hands-on and take overall responsibility for driving the IT infrastructure roadmap
• Strategic Leadership & Operations
• Technical Oversight & Execution-Act as the final point of escalation (Tier 3/4 SME) for complex technical issues related to infrastructure, networking, and cloud services. This means the right candidates will have extensive experience in this area and be hands-on when needed for the final escalation point.
• Oversee the entire technology stack, ensuring operational excellence across on-premise infrastructure (Cisco/Meraki,Ruckus,Fortinet) and cloud services (Azure, Microsoft 365). You must have extensive experience with this technology stack as this is a hands on Global IT Director role.
• End-User Enablement

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience managing technical teams in a hands-on infrastructure or operations role
• A prior background as a Senior Systems Admin, Network Engineer, or Cloud Engineer
• Proven success leading global IT projects (e.g., Azure migrations, Intune rollouts, Zero-Trust implementations)
• Experience supporting distributed workforces in both corporate and industrial settings
• Project management capabilities (PMP or equivalent experience)

Technical Expertise (All Mandatory)

• Expert-level:
• Endpoint management, identity & access, and cloud security

Strong knowledge:

Familiarity with:

• ITSM/ITIL, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep)
• Cybersecurity standards (Zero Trust, SOC2, ISO 27001)

Bonus:

• Scripting (PowerShell)
• Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
