Job summary

Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) invites applications for the Director of Financial Strategy to provide strategic financial leadership, strengthen enterprise-wide decision-making, and support the evolution of NBS’s Finance function.

Reporting to the CSOO and collaborating with the Executive Director and Artistic Director, you will steer planning, analytics, risk management, and finance transformation to sustain growth and impact in a unique arts and education setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA considered an asset.
• 10+ years of progressive financial and operational management experience including senior-level strategy, analysis, and decision support.
• Expertise in planning, budgeting, forecasting, modelling, scenario analysis, and management reporting.
• Experience leading change and evolving financial systems with proficiency in emerging technology tools.
• Strong leadership and talent development skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of governance, internal controls, compliance, risk management, and reporting.
• Clear communicator who translates complex financial information for diverse audiences.
• Commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging in financial decisions.
• Analytics experience in not-for-profit, arts, education, or cultural sectors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead long-range planning, annual budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
• Oversee management reporting, performance analysis, and enterprise intelligence.
• Partner with HR, payroll, pensions, and operations on integrated planning and reporting.
• Drive finance transformation, modernize systems, and develop the Finance team.
• Support governance, internal controls, compliance, and accounting standards; oversee treasury and cash flow.
• Serve as financial liaison to the Board and various Committees.
• Champion equitable and transparent financial practices across the organization.
