Reporting to the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Financial Services plays an integral part of the Senior Management Team. The Director of Financial Services leads the team responsible for Finance and Information Systems for the City and provides financial counsel and advice related to ongoing strategic initiatives and instilling financial rigor across the organization. The Director of Financial Services is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the finance function overseeing the day-to-day financial activities and resources to ensure compliance with governing laws, regulations, and accounting standards. The Director of Financial Services builds productive relationships across units and serves as the financial representative to the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Senior Management Team and Council.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate finance leader who has a deep desire to advance ground-breaking ideas to make individuals' lives better. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration) and CPA designation with at least seven (7) years of progressive and/or senior finance and accounting experience. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated leadership and knowledge of municipal financial administration, including implementing best practice financial processes, information systems, accounting, financial planning, budgeting and financial reporting. The next Director of Financial Services will bring exceptional leadership, communication, change management, collaboration and prioritization skills. An equivalent combination of education, experience and skills will be considered. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and successful Police Information Check are required.
The salary for this position is $174,787 – $190,994 complemented by an excellent benefits package and a supportive and innovative working environment.
