It’s not just about shopping—it’s about creating an entirely new experience.

Position Overview :

We are looking for a Director of Finance to lead ShopThing’s finance function. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable being an individual contributor in a fast-paced, evolving environment, but also able to be a strategic thinker and leader. You will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, supporting strategic decisions, and helping drive the company’s growth. The successful candidate must be able to begin in early July 2025 or sooner . We are accepting applicants on a rolling basis, deadline for submission is June 13th, 2025.

Key Responsibilities :

Financial Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with ShopThing’s growth plans.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial performance and business planning.
• Provide strategic insights to support key business initiatives and growth opportunities.
• Key partner in financing activities : investor decks, data room preparation, diligence, and growth story.
• Highly skilled in financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, and investor reporting.

Financial Operations & Reporting

• Manage all accounting operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, and audit readiness.
• Oversee cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting to the executive team and Board of Directors.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to accounting standards and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
• Implement and maintain internal controls and risk management processes.
• Coordinate with external auditors and advisors as needed.
• Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to handle day-to-day finance responsibilities independently.
• Build scalable processes that will grow with the company over time.
• Navigate ambiguity and thrive in a dynamic, startup-like environment.
• Openness and / or skilled in AI, upskilling, and using software to build a best in class finance department

Qualifications :

• 5-10 years of progressive finance experience, ideally in e-commerce, technology, or high-growth businesses.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Experience in fundraising activities is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Canada-US cross-border transactions and consolidation of accounts, including banking and tax filing from our US subsidiary, is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
• Startup or scale-up experience is an asset.
