About the Role :
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established property management client located in North York. This full-time, permanent Director of Finance role is a critical leadership position responsible for financial planning, control, reporting, and strategic analysis. You’ll play a key part in delivering timely and accurate financial information to support the executive team and Board of Directors in decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct monthly analytical review of balance sheet reconciliations and subsidiary ledgers
- Perform monthly variance analysis against budget
- Oversee preparation of year-end audit working papers and support external audit processes
- Review and distribute accurate financial reports to the Board of Directors
- Attend Board meetings as needed
- Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash receipt functions
- Maintain and update manuals for accounting procedures and policies
- Coach, mentor, and manage accounting team members, including performance reviews
- Review and authorize cheque preparation
- Ensure financial security through internal controls and regular data backups
- Maintain banking and reserve accounts, monitor investments, and review bank statements
- Stay current on tax laws, financial regulations, and industry practices
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support special projects as requested
Required Qualifications :
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting leadership role
- Previous experience in condominium or property management accounting is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check
