Altis Technology in Ottawa is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer / Senior Finance Leader to guide financial planning, reporting, and operational modernization for a national not-for-profit organization serving thousands of members across Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual fluency in English and French, advanced written and spoken communication.
  • CPA designation required, with experience in not-for-profit or membership-based environments.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, audit processes, and internal controls.
  • Experience preparing and managing large budgets and financial reporting.
  • Experience collaborating with boards or executive committees.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and oversight of the organization’s annual operating budget with financial analysis for strategic decisions.
  • Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance with strong internal controls.
  • Supervise and mentor a finance team of eight; oversee accounts payable, payroll, and financial administration.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and financial modelling to support planning and long-term sustainability.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and board committees; support audit processes and advise on priorities.
  • Oversee HR-related functions including payroll oversight for a large unionized workforce, benefits administration, and facilities management.
  • Play a key role in system modernization initiatives and implement new tools to enhance efficiency.

This role plays a critical part in overseeing financial stewardship, operational infrastructure, and administrative leadership for a complex national organization serving tens of thousands of members across Canada.

Working closely with elected leadership and senior stakeholders, you will guide financial planning, reporting, and organizational modernization while supporting a collaborative team environment. Your Responsibilities

Skills and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally within a complex or mission-driven organization
  • CPA designation required
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and managing large organizational budgets and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, audit processes, and financial controls, ideally within a not-for-profit or membership-based environment
  • Experience working with or reporting to a board or executive committee
  • Experience overseeing payroll, HR administration, or finance operations within a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Exceptional bilingual communication skills in both English and French, with the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups
