Stevenson & White is seeking a Director of Finance for our client, a well-established not-for-profit in Ottawa. This hands-on leader will run the finance function, guide strategic decisions, and stay engaged in core accounting and reporting.

The role involves leading a small team, ensuring accuracy, and partnering with the CEO to advance mission-driven goals. The position covers month-end close, financial statements, government reporting, forecasting, year-end audit coordination, and growth

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or finance.
• 7+ years of experience in the full cycle of accounting, including management with a strategic focus.
• Proficient in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a small finance team responsible for payroll and accounting functions, while maintaining a hands-on approach.
• Manage month-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements, reporting, and performance analytics.
• Complete various government reporting requirements related to funding and compliance.
• Develop forecasting models and 'what-if' scenario analyses to support strategic financial planning and decision-making.
• Lead year-end audit preparation and coordination.
• Support organizational growth strategy through market analysis, competitor research, and evaluation of service expansion opportunities.
