Job summary

Osborne Financial Search is seeking a Director of Finance in Markham for a broad leadership role combining commercial finance, business partnership and accounting oversight. You will influence decisions, partner with senior leadership and drive profitability in a consumer products environment.

The role reports to the senior finance leader, leading budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis while ensuring financial reporting integrity and controls. Hybrid work included.

Qualifications

• CPA designation and degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce.
• 10+ years of progressive finance experience including senior leadership.
• Experience in consumer products, retail, wholesale distribution or inventory-based business.
• Strong FP&A, financial modeling and analytical skills with margins, inventory and working capital.
• Experience overseeing accounting, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Proven ability to lead people and build cross-functional relationships.
• Strong ERP knowledge and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning with business leaders.
• Translate financial results into clear insights and practical recommendations for management.
• Analyze sales, margins, pricing, product mix and customer profitability to identify risks and opportunities.
• Build financial models to evaluate promotions, investments and other commercial initiatives.
• Partner with sales and operations to strengthen decision-making and financial accountability.
• Oversee the financial close and reporting process with accurate, complete information.
• Maintain internal controls and oversee audit, tax and corporate reporting requirements.
• Support cash flow planning and working capital management across inventory, receivables and payables.
• Lead and develop the finance team, building capability and continuous improvement.
• Improve financial reporting tools and systems to support growth.

Our client, an established consumer products organization in Markham, is seeking a Director of Finance to take on a broad leadership role combining commercial finance, business partnership and oversight of the accounting function.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the senior finance leader, you will lead budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis while ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and controls. A significant portion of your time will involve partnering with sales and operations to understand results, evaluate opportunities and improve profitability.

You will have the opportunity to:

WHAT YOU BRING

You are a CPA with a strong accounting foundation and the commercial curiosity to look beyond the numbers. You can move comfortably between reviewing financial results and sitting down with a sales leader to understand the business decisions behind them.

Your background includes:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline, and a CPA designation.
• At least 10 years of progressive finance experience, including five or more years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Experience in consumer products, retail, wholesale distribution or a related inventory-based business.
• Strong FP&A, financial modeling and analytical skills, with an understanding of margins, inventory and working capital.
• Experience overseeing accounting, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Proven ability to lead people and build productive relationships across functions.
• Strong ERP knowledge, advanced Excel skills and experience improving financial reporting and processes.

Experience within a multinational organization would be valuable.
