Job summary

Space Dinosaurs is seeking a Director of Engineering (Hands-On Architect) to own outcomes across multiple squads and client engagements. You will shape engineering standards, own architecture, and drive delivery while staying hands-on 20–30% of the time to unblock critical problems.

You will lead engineering managers, leads, and architects, partnering with PMs across time zones to ensure high quality, scalable solutions for enterprise brands. The role is remote with international scope.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in engineering management with experience managing managers, leads, or architects.
• Architectural judgment in modern frontend systems (Next.js, state management, performance).
• Delivery ownership in agency or professional services with client engagements.
• Strong written and verbal English for cross‑border collaboration.
• Evidence of shaping AI agent workflows and standards.
• Preferred: Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Shopify Plus/Hydrogen.
• Preferred: MACH architecture and headless CMS familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery outcomes and velocity across delivery teams; diagnose bottlenecks.
• Hire, develop, and performance-manage engineering managers, leads, and architects.
• Define frontend architecture patterns and performance standards used by teams.
• Drive story refinement and documentation standards for reliable execution.
• Set standards for AI agent usage and cross-squad collaboration patterns.
• Coordinate with PMs across time zones to balance priorities and maintain quality.
• Coach managers on cross-cultural communication and async collaboration.
