The Mission

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Cloud Native Applications to join our growing App Dev practice. The ideal candidate brings a passion for modern software development, a strong customer orientation, and a proven ability to lead teams through complex technical engagements. Your mission will be to guide project delivery, support escalations, enable our engineering teams, and collaborate with clients and sales leaders to shape high-impact solutions. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring technical excellence, scaling our delivery capabilities, and helping customers bring cutting-edge applications to life in AWS.

Your Assignment
  • The Cloud Native Applications Practice Leader will be responsible for leading, growing, and evolving our cloud engineering practice. This individual will take part in setting the technical vision, establishing and enforcing best practices, and ensuring the successful delivery of cloud native applications for clients of all sizes. The role requires deep expertise in application development, strong knowledge in AWS technologies, a strong business acumen, and the ability to lead a large, diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice Leadership: Take part in Defining and executing the strategic vision for the Cloud Native Applications Practice, ensuring alignment with company objectives and AWS best practices.
  • Technical Excellence: Establish and promote industry-leading methodologies, frameworks, and architectures for cloud-native solutions.
  • People Management: Lead and mentor a team of 50+ software engineers, architects, and consultants, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Delivery Excellence: Oversee the successful execution of customer engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
  • AWS Partnership: Strengthen our collaboration with AWS, leveraging latest technologies and programs to enhance our service offerings.
  • Business Growth: Support pre-sales efforts, contribute to go-to-market strategies, and help drive revenue growth by aligning technical capabilities with business opportunities.
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of industry trends, drive innovation within the practice, and represent the company in conferences, webinars, and AWS-related events.
  • AI & Emerging Technologies Leadership: Drive the development and implementation of AI-powered solutions both internally and for our customers

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering and software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading and scaling an engineering practice or department, ideally within an AWS-focused services company.
  • Proven experience leading and delivering large (multi-million dollar) software project
  • Deep expertise in AWS services, architectures, and best practices
  • Deep expertise in software development patterns, architectures, and best practices
  • Strong background in DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with enterprise clients across various industries.
  • Experience working with cross-practice teams (talent, sales, marketing, operations etc).
  • Experience building, delivering, and using GenAI products and solutions

Base Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this position is $207,000 - $240,000 CAD per year. If you are hired at Caylent, your base salary is determined on factors such as skills, experience, geographic location, and other market conditions. While it's not typical for offers to be made at the top of the range, please keep in mind that the base salary range is only one component of your overall compensation.

Additional Compensation Components: In addition to the base salary, the compensation package may include bonuses, commissions, equity, and other incentives. The specific components will vary depending on the role and individual and/or company performance.

NOTE: We are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.

This role may require up to 25% travel, depending on business needs.
