Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Director of Care for our long-term care home in New Westminster, BC, to lead Resident Care Services and uphold high standards of resident wellbeing.

Reporting to the Executive Director and the Regional Director, Care Services, you will oversee assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and champion person-centered care across the site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or diploma in nursing with active registration.
  • Minimum 3 years RN management experience in health care.
  • Minimum 1 year RN experience in long-term care.
  • Current RN registration and Nursing Unit Administrator program completed.
  • Current CPR designation required and background check completed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching and support to nursing staff.
  • Achieve resident satisfaction and employee engagement targets.
  • Meet or surpass quality indicators per guidelines.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance for health records and drug safekeeping.

The Opportunity

The Director of Care (DOC) of the Long-Term Care Home is responsible to the Executive Director and the Regional Director, Care Services for management of the Resident Care Services within the site. The Director of Care ensures the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the overall operation of the Nursing /Care Department in accordance with current applicable federal, provincial and regional standards, guidelines and regulations. Works within their practice statement, competencies and conduct as defined by the Health Professions Act or other relevant legislation and governing professional organizations to ensure that the highest standard of resident care is delivered and maintained at all times.

What You Will Do
  • Providing leadership, coaching and support to the nursing staff.
  • Achieving Resident Satisfaction and Employee Engagement targets.
  • Meeting or surpassing all quality indicators for residents in accordance with company and Ministry guidelines.
  • Achieving regulatory compliance in relation to health care records and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics.
  • Meeting or exceeding department annual budget.
What You Will Need
  • Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in the long-term care sector.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the applicable Provincial licensing body is required as well as the successful completion of Nursing Unit Administrator Program.
  • Current C.P.R. designation is required.

  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year Salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
