Job summary

RiseMe in Ontario is seeking a Nurse Leader to coordinate nursing services in a senior housing community. You will lead the nursing department, plan and supervise care, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Ideal candidate has an active RN or RPN license with the College of Nurses of Ontario, strong leadership and communication skills, and experience with budgeting and quality improvement. Competitive compensation and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Current registration and in good standing as a RN or RPN with the COLNO.
• CPR & First Aid certification is required.
• Experience with medication administration if medications are provided.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• 3–5 years in leadership roles in senior housing or related settings.
• Knowledge of Retirement Homes Act and applicable legislation.
• Strong empathy for seniors and budget management experience.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Familiarity with OHSA provisions and nursing practices.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, delegates, and evaluates nursing department activities.
• Plans and oversees Residents' health and personal care services.
• Participates in inter-professional assessments and develops care plans.
• Implements and monitors quality improvement initiatives.
• Meets with Residents/Families to address concerns and resolve issues.
• Organizes care conferences at admission and every 6 months.
• Maintains accurate health records and reviews pre-medical assessments.
• Acts as Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator for the community.
• Responsible for recruitment of associates and conducting appraisals.
• Provides ongoing associate education and maintains staffing schedules.
• Promotes the organization’s vision, mission, and Resident Bill of Rights.

Wage Rate

The starting annual salary is $75,000.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, delegates, and evaluates the activities of the nursing department,


• Plans, assigns, and oversees the Residents' health and personal care services,


• Participates in inter-professional assessments in identifying Residents' needs and develops an individualized plan of care, ensuring that the resident is receiving the level and quality of agreed-upon care,


• Implements and monitors quality improvement,


• Meets with Residents/Families to resolve problems and concerns,


• Organizes and participates in the Resident care conference on admission and at 6 monthly intervals or as the condition of the Resident changes,


• Maintains accurate and complete health records,


• Reviews pre-medical assessments to ensure that the community is able to provide the care,


• Serves as the Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator for the community,


• Responsible for the recruitment of associates,


• Completes performance appraisals of associates as required,


• Provides ongoing associate education,


• Maintains the staffing schedules,


• Promotes the vision, mission, values, and the Resident Bill of Rights,


• Any and all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Current registration and in good standing as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario,


• Current CPR & First Aid Certificate,


• Demonstrated experience with medication administration (if medications provided),


• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office,


• 3-5 years of leadership roles in the senior housing industry,


• Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation,


• Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors,


• Demonstrated experience in managing a budget,


• Effective communication and leadership skills,


• Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act,


• Knowledge of the Nursing practices and nursing diagnosis,


• Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices, and procedures as required by the College of Nurses,


• Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB results in less than 6 months, evidence of flu shot must be able to provide three work references
