Job summary

Scotiabank in Toronto seeks a Director of National Supervision for ScotiaMcLeod, Business Controls & Oversight to lead a multi-jurisdiction team ensuring regulatory compliance and effective controls across Canada and Caribbean entities.

You will drive risk-aware operations, collaborate on AML/ATF initiatives, and lead a high-performance team with clear development and succession plans, reporting into senior governance structures.

Qualifications

• A university degree is required.
• Completion of CSC, CPH, IDSC/BSC, DFOL, OSC or equivalents (including recent equivalents) is required.
• Current CIRO registration in a supervisory category is required.
• 10+ years of securities experience.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations and industry best practices.
• Strong knowledge of the retail securities business and insurance.
• Proven leadership skills and experience managing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the National Supervision team and ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
• Oversee day-to-day business controls, risk management and assessment of regulatory obligations.
• Collaborate with AML/Regulatory initiatives to implement enterprise AML/ATF program.
• Lead a team with 3 direct reports and 10–15 indirect reports across Canada, The Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.
• Manage relationships with regulatory bodies (OSFI, CIRO, CSA, FINTRAC, FINCEN, provincial securities commissions).
• Drive a culture of client focus and high performance while balancing risk and governance.
