Job summary

Bell AI Fabric seeks a Director, MEP & Electrical Infrastructure to lead the mechanical, electrical, and energy infrastructure programs underpinning Canada's national data-centre platform. Summary

Bell's AI Fabric initiative is pioneering a secure, sovereign AI compute network across Canada. This transformative portfolio includes seven large-scale, high-density data centres, anchored by a 500 MW British Columbia supercluster and a future 1.2GW flagship site in Regina, Saskatchewan.

As Director, MEP & Electrical Infrastructure, you will provide strategic leadership for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, power generation, and utility infrastructure programs that underpin Bell AI Fabric's national data centre platform. This role combines portfolio-level MEP governance with ownership of the electrical infrastructure ecosystem, including power generation, transmission interconnections, substations, distribution networks, backup power systems, and high-density cooling infrastructure.

You will establish the standards, delivery frameworks, procurement strategies, and technical governance that every site inherits and executes against. Working across engineering, construction, utilities, regulators, OEMs, and executive leadership, you will ensure the AI Fabric portfolio delivers scalable, resilient, and mission-critical infrastructure capable of supporting Canada's next generation of AI compute capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Leadership & Strategy
  • Own the enterprise-wide MEP and Electrical Infrastructure strategy across Bell AI Fabric's national data centre portfolio.
  • Establish standardized design bases, engineering specifications, technical standards, governance frameworks, and delivery playbooks across all sites.
  • Drive consistency, repeatability, scalability, and continuous improvement across multiple concurrent data centre developments.
  • Build and scale the MEP and Electrical Infrastructure leadership function as the program expands nationally.
• Electrical Infrastructure & Energy Systems
  • Lead planning and execution of major electrical infrastructure programs supporting large-scale AI and data centre operations.
  • Establish technical requirements and design standards for HV and MV electrical systems, substations, switchyards, distribution networks, and critical power systems.
  • Oversee development of gas-fired generation assets, utility interconnections, backup power systems, and grid-connected energy infrastructure.
  • Lead utility negotiations, transmission access discussions, capacity planning, and interconnection agreements.
  • Develop long-term energy strategies to support portfolio growth while ensuring reliability, resilience, and operational continuity.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging energy technologies including battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, distributed generation, and grid modernization solutions.
• MEP Engineering & Infrastructure Delivery
  • Define and govern MEP standards for power distribution, UPS systems, generators, cooling plants, chilled water systems, controls, and high-density/liquid cooling technologies.
  • Lead portfolio-wide modularization and prefabrication strategies to improve schedule certainty, quality, and scalability across sites.
  • Provide technical oversight and governance to site-level engineering, MEP, and construction leaders.
  • Ensure lessons learned, best practices, and engineering innovations are captured and implemented portfolio-wide.
• Risk Management & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Lead program-wide risk identification, mitigation, change management, and issue resolution activities.
  • Manage relationships with regulators, utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, technology providers, and executive stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on infrastructure strategy, energy planning, engineering governance, and program execution.
  • Influence and align multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Procurement, Program Controls, Asset Management, Construction, Operations, and AI Fabric leadership.

Critical Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation strongly preferred.
• PMP, PgMP, commissioning certification (CxA, ACG), or equivalent professional credential considered an asset.
• 15+ years of leadership experience delivering large-scale MEP, electrical infrastructure, energy, industrial, mission-critical, or hyperscale data centre programs.
• Demonstrated success leading portfolio-level engineering, infrastructure, or capital programs valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
• Significant experience supporting gas-fired generation facilities and large-scale energy infrastructure.
• Proven experience establishing technical standards, governance frameworks, and delivery playbooks across multiple facilities or programs.
• Experience developing and scaling modular or off-site construction strategies for mission-critical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of commissioning methodologies, FAT/SAT processes, integrated systems testing, and operational readiness programs.
• Experience leading utility negotiations, transmission access discussions, and regulatory engagement.
• Strong command of program cost management, forecasting, and integrated scheduling tools such as Primavera P6.
• Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders, technical stakeholders, utilities, regulators, and industry partners.
• Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering and infrastructure organizations.
• Willingness to travel nationally between project sites, utility partners, fabrication facilities, and Bell AI Fabric locations.

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
