Purpose

The Director of Insurance Partnerships – International Banking leads and manages the Bank’s strategic partnerships, ensuring alignment with retail business strategies, objectives, plans, and initiatives.

Accountabilities
  1. Lead a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  2. Identify, establish, and manage strategic partnerships to enhance the insurance value proposition across key segments in IB markets.
  3. Ensure partners drive profitable growth and contribute meaningfully to primary client relationships.
  4. Maintain minimal B+ AM Best ratings or equivalent, ensuring partner culture and values align with Scotiabank.
  5. Negotiate and advise management on partnership agreements, including terms, pricing, and revenue sharing, aligned with retail/insurance objectives.
  6. Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail product, distribution, and segment teams at local and head office levels, understanding retail strategy.
  7. Collaborate with country teams to understand market needs and tailor partnership offers for innovation and competitiveness.
  8. Track, analyze, and report on partnership performance, taking corrective actions as needed.
  9. Coordinate with in-country teams for successful implementation and integration of initiatives.
  10. Develop marketing and sales campaigns with distribution, marketing, and sales teams to maximize partnership value.
  11. Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and the competitive landscape to identify new opportunities.
  12. Represent IB insurance intermediaries, building brand awareness across regions.
  13. Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure contractual and risk assessments are in place.
  14. Oversee execution of global and country-specific initiatives, ensuring contractual and policy compliance.
  15. Develop KPIs for partners to ensure accountability and desired business results.
  16. Consider Bank’s risk appetite and culture in daily activities and decisions.
  17. Create an environment promoting effective operations, adherence to controls, and compliance with operational, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risk standards.
  18. Build a high-performance team, fostering an inclusive environment, communicating vision/values, and managing succession and development.
Education / Experience
  • University degree in Business, Marketing, or relevant insurance industry designations; MBA or MA in Marketing preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • Expertise in the insurance industry, including regulations and market dynamics.
  • Deep understanding of insurance products, profitability, services, and operations.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, communication, and management skills.
  • Ability to influence across geographies and build strategic relationships in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving abilities relevant to insurance and financial services.
  • Leadership, coaching, and team-building skills to support professional growth and successful initiative implementation.
