Responsibilities
- Establish the strategy and operating model for IT Project Management including goals and objectives.
- Refine implementation management roles, responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Collaborate with Business Units, IT Procurement, IT Finance, Enterprise Architecture, and other IT teams as well as IT vendors regarding Project Management operational processes.
- Partner with IT Leadership to implement agile principles for delivery.
- Collaborate with CIBC Mellon’s Change Consulting & Delivery team on the development and implementation of standard project and program management methodologies and tools to improve the probability of successful project delivery.
- Monitor program status across the portfolio and effectively communicate status to all stakeholders via project data repositories, status reports, project planning tools, presentations, etc.
- Facilitate the annual capital planning process for Information Technology and ensure adherence to financial control processes.
- Define and implement governance processes/structures in accordance with waterfall and agile delivery processes that enable appropriate planning, scheduling, executing, monitoring and control across the technology portfolio.
- Continuously improve the toolset used to facilitate our core Project Management processes, including project scheduling, resource management, financial management, status reporting, project lifecycle workflow, time tracking, and document management.
- Guide and educate on the importance of IT organizational change management principles
- Coordinate the IT project portfolio prioritization and participate in ongoing demand management and capacity management.
- Own capacity management and resource forecasting processes and tools, partner with other IT functions and shared service providers to address gaps.
- Fulfill Product Owner role for the Planview portfolio management tool.
- Facilitate tracking of benefits realization across the IT project portfolio.
- Establish and maintain effective risk management and dependency management discipline across IT initiatives.
- Champion adherence to audit and control requirements.
- Oversee interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of permanent and contractor Project Managers, Implementation Managers and Business Analysts.
- Responsible for people management and ongoing training, mentoring, and coaching to Project Managers and Implementation Managers and Business Analysts so that a Center of Excellence around delivery is established.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field
- 7-10+ years experience in IT and financial services with a focus on Fund Accounting, Record Keeping and Custody systems delivery would be an asset
- Project Manager PMI/PMP and CSM certification desirable
- 5+ years’ experience managing large programs and projects or a PMO function and leading diverse teams
- Experience with Agile/Scrum teams integrated with traditional waterfall management methods
- Experience with one or more project management methodologies (e.g., PMI PMBOK) and integration of agile/rapid learning cycle environments
- Aptitude with project portfolio management (PPM) applications (e.g., Planview)
- Significant knowledge of project planning tools with evidence of practical application
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the PMO vision, and inspire and motivate PMO staff
- A distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control of this role
- Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
